What we have, they're called sidewalks. They have underground passageways, the only way to safely cross the road. You think New York drivers are crazy? Go to Beijing and you try to run across the street. You're more likely to get hit by a car more than anything else. The key in Beijing apparently is to literally not give a shit and walk. Which is why the old ladies that come to America and cross the streets in NY don't bother looking when they cross. Old habits die hard.
